Peking University Health Science Center Delegation Visits Germany and Croatia

From August 20 till 25, a delegation headed by Zhan Qimin, President of Peking University Health Science Center and Executive Vice President of PKU, paid a visit to Ulm University, the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases of Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the Technical University of Munich, University of Munich, and University of Rijeka, Croatia.

The delegation visited Ulm University on August 20. Zhan Qimin spoke highly of the collaborative fruits of PKUHSC and Ulm University’s Medical College. The visit will expand the two parties’ cooperation in the neural field to fields of tumor and trauma.

On August 21, the delegation went to the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases of Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. Lu Lin and Si Tianmei, professors in mental health, and Huang Yining and Fan Dongsheng, professors in neurology, made academic exchanges and discussions with German experts.

On the next morning, the delegation paid a visit to the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Recent years have seen frequent visits between the two parties, with enhanced academic exchanges and cooperation. The two universities signed a letter of intent in 2018. During the visit, TUM Vice President Professor Juliane Winkelmann and Professor Han Fang, Vice Dean of Respiratory Department of PKU People’s Hospital, made introductions to the collaboration in the sleep field. Experts from the two parties held heated discussions about potential cooperation.

The delegation visited the University of Munich on the afternoon of August 22. Zhan Qimin expressed the hope that the two universities would strengthen the collaboration in medicine. The two parties discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of research and student exchange.

On August 23 and 24, the delegation paid a visit to University of Rijeka in Croatia. Presidents of the two universities renewed the PKUHSC-UR Memorandum of Understanding and the agreement on student exchange.
