Nobel Laureate Martin L. Chalfie visited PUHSC

Martin Lee Chalfie, 2008 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, paid a visit to Peking University Health Science Center on September 7, 2016. Prof. Chalfie is University Professor at Columbia University and member of the American National Academy of Sciences. He shared the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry along with Osamu Shimomura and Roger Y. Tsien "for the discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein, GFP".

 

During the visit, he made remarks in the Ceremony to Open New Academic Year and Teacher’s Day Ceremony, making them very special. Prof. Qimin Zhan, President of Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC), meet with him. Prof. Weigang Fang, Vice President of PUHSC, Prof. Liping Duan, Vice President of PUHSC, Weimin Wang, Vice President of PUHSC and Prof. Qiudan Sun, Director of Office of International Cooperation also joined the meeting. Besides, Prof. Chalfie delivered an enlightening speech to the faculty and students. His speech, “GFP: Lighting Up Life” will certainly exert great and active influence on the audience.
