On September 4, 2021, Prof. ZAHNG Ning, Vice President for Scientific Research at Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC), was invited to attend the 10th ASEAN Medical School Dean's Summit online and gave a speech at the conference. The summit was organized by the ASEAN Medical School Network. Prof. ZHANG’s topic of the speech was Peking University’s Fight against COVID-19 Pandemic.

At the summit, Prof. ZAHNG introduced the three fronts of Peking University's anti-epidemic work, including policy management, clinical practice and scientific research. In terms of policy management, Peking University actively participates in the research and prediction of the epidemic, playing an important role as a national think tank. As to clinical practice, Peking University dispatched a medical team to assist Hubei at the beginning of the outbreak in Wuhan. During the recurrent epidemics in China, experts were also dispatched to areas with epidemics to guide local anti-epidemic work. In the field of scientific research, Peking University closely focuses on the first-line clinical needs of epidemic prevention and control and patient treatment and conducts research in five major areas: virus detection, emergency prevention and clinical treatment, epidemiology, vaccines and therapeutic drugs, and policy research. Besides, Prof. ZAHNG also introduced the measures taken by Peking University to promote scientific research on COVID-19, share the progress and results of anti-epidemic scientific research with the world, and carry out popular science work. Finally, Prof. ZAHNG shared COVID-19-related high-impact articles and some major scientific research results published by researchers at Peking University.
