What should I expect from my reviewers?
A seminar for postgraduate and early career researchers.
Dr Sally Clift
Editor-in-Chief: Medical Engineering & Physics

Abstract:
It isn’t sufficient just to do good work, one also needs to publish: Much of the development in science and engineering comes from all of us inching understanding forward and discussing with others about what we have done. The peer review process, whereby manuscripts submitted for publication are commented on by experts in the field, is a very widely used method of ensuring the quality of journal publications. For new and even experienced authors, however, it can feel quite daunting to invite judgement to be passed on ones efforts.
This seminar will explore the role of the invited anonymous reviewers; how they are selected, what they are asked to do, and how the editor takes into account the comments of reviewers in reaching a decision on the manuscript.
